I hadn't made a video in about three months (more than I was remembering), so I figured I was overdue. I actually tried to make one a while ago, but I guess I wasn't in a talkative mood, because it went nowhere. This time, even though I didn't plan anything, it turned out.
I'm much more of a writer than a talker, but sometimes I do like to talk. And I imagine things come out a bit differently when I do than when I write.

Veronique, it was so nice to actually see and hear you! I'd got a 'feel' of sorts from the tone and content of your postings, but your personality shone with this video. As incidentally did your eyes at the end, and I don't blame you for any watering of the eyes when mentioning the prospect ahead of you.
I got myself a webcam just the other day and may do a video of my own sometime, but my voice is not good, and it'll have to improve a lot before any screen debut. Your own voice is very feminine; I'm not surprised that you easily pass!
Yes, there are a spate of surgeries going on. In the UK, in my blogging circle alone, we have Debbie (of Debbie K Being True to my HeART) just two days back (I'm seeing her daily while she's in a Brighton hospital nearby); Nicky (of The Candyfloss Girl) at the start of January at the same hospital; and, away from blogging, a local friend goes into a London hospital at the end of February. I could make a career out of hospital visiting at this rate!
In the UK it's a very simple thing to change your entire name, including the 'Mr', but tricky to get that 'F' box correct on passports and suchlike. If you don't yet have a certificate under the Gender Recognition Act 2004, then you have to 'persuade' the authority concerned that you are female. Doctors' letters help, but the outcome isn't certain. And you can't routinely apply to a court for a ruling. That said, there's a good deal of helpful advice out there from other trans peple - thank God for the Internet!

Lucy, thank you so much for your kind words. I've embedded videos in my blog before, but maybe you've never seen them. If you click through, I think you'll get to my YouTube site.
Name change and things like that are provincial (Canada) and state (US) matters, so there are as many sets of rules as their are provincial and state jurisdictions. It's rather annoying, but that's the reality. I already have an F on my driver's licence, but all the other Fs will have to wait until I can change my birth certificate, which will require at least the surgeon's affidavit and I think the extra court document. Fun!
